Here is another example of an engaging practice that, from a professional experience, fosters students’ SCHOOL ENGAGEMENT. By school engagement we mean students’ observable participation in school activities, sense of belonging to classmates and teachers, and valuing success in school-related goals.

Description of the practice: From the Education Department of Manlleu City Council there is an agreement between companies and schools, so that students of “Aula Oberta” of different schools in the city can start to be in touch with differents jobs through some practice hours during a week. They work with the goal of fostering the young students skills and help them to set their own personal objectives.

Accessible to any student: no, only students that are part of “Aules Obertes” in schools. (Aules obertes means Open Classes which really means classrooms and lessons more focused on the labor scope than academic.

Meaningful participation for every student: yes

Why? There is an individual tracking of each student by each school.
