Here is another example of an engaging practice that, from a professional experience, fosters students’ SCHOOL ENGAGEMENT. By school engagement we mean students’ observable participation in school activities, sense of belonging to classmates and teachers, and valuing success in school-related goals.

Description of the practice: The subjects of the curriculum are developed by means of practical activities in school and in firms following the methodology of Productive Learning. This includes methods of individual learning, educational counselling and group work. The students and teachers feel themselves as a part of a privileged classroom with the possibility to learn in practice acquiring high competences for future life.

The objective of the experience is to obtain a school leaving certificate for secondary school through an alternative approach.

Meaningful participation for every student: yes

Why? The experience is based on individual training plans where each student can choose the professional field where they developed it.

Support to the practice: Yes, collaboration with firms and practical places over the city.

Does this practice promote students observable participation in school related activities? Yes, the experience raises the self esteem and personal development of the students and the feel of engagement and belonging to their class and their school.

Does the practice promote students sense of belonging to classmates, teachers and school? Yes. They are conviced at last that they are privilege students considering the features of their project and the option to have personal and close assessment of the tutor.

Does the practice promote students giving value to success in school-related goals? Yes. The are learning in practice acquaring the basic competences which the school promotes and consequently their are obtening certification
