Here is another example of an engaging practice that, from a professional experience, fosters students’ SCHOOL ENGAGEMENT. By school engagement we mean students’ observable participation in school activities, sense of belonging to classmates and teachers, and valuing success in school-related goals.

Description of the practice: Students access mailbox and it is for everybody, participation spontaneous and voluntary and it is not regulated. All students can address whoever they want, so, everybody can receive notifications from everybody.

Meaningful participation for every student: yes

Why? The students decide when to participate, if they do so, and how often.

Does this practice promote students observable participation in school related activities? Not detected.

Does the practice promote students sense of belonging to classmates, teachers and school? Depending on the messages they get. The messages left by the teacher have to do with key moments in the school.
