Here is another example of an engaging practice that, from a professional experience, fosters students’ SCHOOL ENGAGEMENT. By school engagement we mean students’ observable participation in school activities, sense of belonging to classmates and teachers, and valuing success in school-related goals.

Description of the practice: With a background music the students do a conscious inhaling and exhaling exercise for a few seconds then continue the breathing exercise until the end of the music for 5 to 7 minutes finishing with some free stretching. There is also a bit of brainstorming by the end of the activity. This helps creating a more tranquil/calm environment which increases attention and focus before students start the art class.
